Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company
In 2014, the Lobianco’s added a brewing system to another one of their restaurants. Angela’s in Catskill, NY, has been a Greene County staple for 35 years, and is well known for consistent Italian food, still to this day. When it was decided that it was time for a change, a brewing system was added and the Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company was created at Angela’s.
The brewery is named in honor of Rip Van Winkle, a fictional character from a short story written by Washington Irving published in 1819. The story is vividly set in the mountain range behind the restaurant. All of the names of the beers produced are inspired by the history of Catskill.
There are eight beers on tap at the brewery, one of which is made using New York State ingredients. Look for Rip Van Winkle Brewery beers at fine eating and drinking establishments in Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster Counties. Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company’s beers medaled again this year, winning a Bronze, Silver, and Gold at the 2018 NYIBC and two Silvers at 2018 TAP NY.
