HVW + ACC = Perfect Pair

Hudson Valley Wine magazine was pleased to pair up with The Athens Cultural Center for their annual summer wine tasting on August 22. The evening’s event, “Perfect Pairings” presented delicious foods curated by local cookbook author, Brigit Binns, (“The Relaxed Kitchen”), with wines culled by Michael Albin, owner of Hudson Wine Merchants, and was accompanied by a classical piano performance and an ongoing art exhibit. Over 250 attendees flocked to the usually serene Greene County hamlet, eager to sample Brigit and Michael’s unique pairings (and to pick up their free copy of HVW magazine). HVW also contributed a basket filled with a selection of Hudson Valley wines for a raffle which raised over $1,000 for the Center. The happy recipient of the basket received Benmarl’s Traminette, Hudson-Chatham’s Lindenwald, Brookview Station’s Lotta Bing! and Bashakill’s Black Bear, suggestions for pairing these wines at home, as well as some wine gadgets from Hood & Company. Congratulations to Howard Zar, director of the Cultural Center, for orchestrating a wonderfully artful event in Athens.
