Wines with a View

Select wines and spectacular Hudson River views punctuated the 3rd Annual Rip Van Winkle Wine & Cheese Festival presented by The Fortnightly Club of Catskill on May 9th. Over 200 attendees from Catskill and the neighboring towns strolled the great lawns of the historic Beattie Powers Mansion, sipping the 2009 releases of several Hudson Valley wineries and sampling local cheeses, homemade chocolates, olive oils, syrups and sauces. Hudson Valley Wine magazine was distributed to each guest, and many perused the newly-released Spring issue on the grand veranda overlooking the Hudson, while enjoying live musical performances.

State Senator James L. Seward (51st Senatorial District), surprised the event organizers when he stopped by to offer his support of the local viticulture and farm communities, and to commend the work of The Fortnightly Club of Catskill which raises funds to benefit the community. He met with the region’s winemakers and chatted with Managing Editor of Hudson Valley Wine magazine, Linda Pierro, and Carroll Nezich, President of The Fortnightly Club of Catskill, while sampling the local flavors.

Hudson Valley Wine magazine is proud to help support this growing annual event and its fundraising efforts to build a neighborhood park for the children of Catskill.
